Diemelsee is a true natural gem. It lies idyllically in the landscape, with the St.Muffert and Eisenberg peaks rising like a landmark on its shore. Anyone who climbs up here will be rewarded with a breathtaking view of the glistening water. The good water quality ensures an abundance of fish, which is why the dam is very popular with anglers . Numerous circular and long-distance hiking trails are laid out like a net around the lake, the most famous of which is the Diemelsteig trail. Visitors also make extensive use of the ferry boat tours and combine the active experience with a trip on a passenger ship. Cycling here can also be as ambitious as it is relaxed; a leisurely cycle tour, for example, leads around the lake in a very family-friendly way. Visitors can jump into the water at the lidos and even have their four-legged friends with them: There are two designated dog beaches on Diemelsee. New are the trekking sites on the Diemelsteig and Uplandsteig trails, which turn an overnight stay in a tent close to nature into a cozy adventure. There is also plenty to discover around the lake: Visitor mines, monasteries, a special nature park adventure exhibition called "Visionarium", a truly adventurous (mini) golf course and much more.
